Married Name | Franks1 | |
Birth* | 8 October 1850 | DeSoto County, Mississippi, USA; Rosalie Guthrie says this information is contained in a pension request by her father, Samuel Rader, for service in the Creeks' War. However, I wonder if the date was the 28th, because she is not listed in the the census on Oct. 24th.2,3 |
Birth-Alt. | 1853 | Tennessee, USA4 |
Cen-Enum* | 17 July 1860 | Union Township, Izard County, Arkansas, USA; "Mary", age 10, female, born MS. Living with Samuel and Elizabeth Rader and 6 children. Marriage* | 6 May 1865 | Fulton County, Arkansas, USA; There is no marriage certificate available for them as the court house burned during the Civil War and then again later. They probably married in Fulton county, where her father lived, or in Izard county where his father lived. The 1880 census lends a doubt that this was Mary Rebecca Rader as the date of birth, birthplace of Mary and her parents is not accurate.; Principal=Jeremiah Thomas Franks6,3 |

His second wife, Elizabeth Franks Rader received a pension for the service after his death. Her application for the pension as a widow was made on December 17, 1895. Military records state that he was a Private. He was 5'9" tall, had blue eyes, black hair and a fair compelxion. One of his descendants, Inez Ladd Powell, great grand daughter, stated that he had been a riverboat worker at one time. As he resided in DeSoto County, on the Mississippi, this story is plausible. 5 |
