Gerald W. Balkcom of Columbia, Maryland is a descendant of William Galbreath who died 1799 -1800 in Orange County, North Carolina. It appears that the family migrated from Ireland or Scotland and then to York County, Pennsylvania (later known as Adams County) and later to North Carolina and then to Bedford County, Tennessee.
