Patricia A. Monogue Balkcom of Columbia, Maryland is a direct descendant of Margaret Kelly (c1778-1850's), who emigrated from Ireland, possibly Queen's County (renamed County Laois in 1922), around 1818 and settled in Valcartier, Quebec. She came with her husband, Michael Cassin, and their children. The family lived in Valcartier for almost 100 years until Patrick Cassin, grandson of Michael, moved his family in 1912 to Hamilton, Ontario where many of the descendants live today.
