| Migration* | 1886 | Oklahoma, United States, In 1886, Nathan and Ella moved to Indian Teritory. It was there they were burned out by the native people three times. Each time, they rebuilt. Nathan escorted several herds of cattle up the Chisolm Trail to stockyards in Kansas. He was reportedly the oldest settler in Marlow, Texas. At the time of his death in 1939, he had lived in the area for 53 years. In 1939 he was struck by a car while attempting to cross Hwy 81 in downtown Marlow, and died. He was a member of the First Board of County Commissioners of Stephens county, begining his term of office in 1907. He also was superintendent of the first sunday school at Doyle. Four children died during the residence in Indian Territory. |
