| Note* | From John of Ireland database: "I have serious doubts about the placement of the Joseph with his descendants as a child to James. I believe that the Joseph that went to NC lived in the NE part of Cumberland, while putative father James wasl iving/died in the SW portion. And Joseph names his first child Robert-so the Joseph of NC is expected to have been the child of a Robert. In fact could this Joseph be the one who died in Mechlenburg in 1787, since his eldest son was James? However, according to Jean a Joseph (as well as Robert, John and Wm--and all sons to James) was definitely brother to James #4 and is the one appearing in the Peters Twp record. | |
