| Land | 22 November 1757 | Mount Pleasant Township, York County, Pennsylvania, United States, William applied for a land grant bordered by the lands of Hugh Cummings, John Rogers, and John Galbreath (probably his father). The warrant was for 50 acres. In 1757, neighbor John Rodgers initiated a court case against William and sometimes John Galbreath, which continued until Rodgers' death in 1761. (York Court of Common Pleas: Jan 1758, p.73; April 1758, p.107; Oct. 1759, and July 1761.) |
| Court Rec. | 1758 | Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania, United States, along with John (father or brother?) It is probably his father, as the case involved John Rogers, who was a neighbor to John and William and the case was likely a land dispute. |
| Tax List | 1762 | Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania, United States, William Galbreath with a tax of £0.6.9. |
| Land | 2 April 1764 | Straban Township, York County, Pennsylvania, United States, "The third town founded in York County was Straban Town on 2 April 1764 and the first deed was issued to William Galbreath. The village, now Hunterstown, was not successful and the founder, David Hunter, left in a few years." The deed states: "David Hunter of Straban Township and William Galbreath of Mount Pleasant for 2 pounds 10 shillings...following piece of ground situated in the town of Straban in the towhship aforesaid and known on the general plan of the said town as number thirty beginning at a cornerpost on Kings Street and Rave(?) The land is subject to a yearly rent of £0.6.0. |
| Migration* | 1767 | It appears that the family migrated to NC from PA in 1767, shortly after Elizabeth's birth in this year. William (if this is the correct William) is shown in a document with Andrew Galbreath in a document in Nov. of this year in Orange County, NC. |

| Land* | 15 April 1788 | Rutherford County, Tennessee, United States, The land grant numbers are somewhat confusing as this appears to be Grant No. 2, that William refers to in his will. Rutherford County records refer to it as Grant No. 2 and Warrant No. 2263 whil Bedford County records appear to refer to it as grant #2815 which was for 1000 acres on the eastside of Sugar Creek and the southside of Duck River in the Middle District of TN. (It appears that there were possibly two grants, each for 1000 acres, but it is not clear. In a deed on the 21 Nov 1808 in Bedford county, TN, it states: " Whereas William Galbreath late of the county of Orange aforesaid was in his lifetime and at the time of his death was in possession of a tract of land lying situated and being in Middle District formerly part of the County of Rutherford in the state of Tennessee on the south side of Duck River between said River and a creek known and called by the name of Sugar Creek containing by estimate one thousand acres to be the same more or less. The Rutherford County records staed that it was for 100 acres and began at Samuel Patton's corner and Thomas Nichols, George Martin, Amos Balch, and richard Martin's line to Samuel Patton, Jr's corner, etc. and that it was granted at Edenton on 15 April, 1788, was named Warrant No. 2263 on 15 apri 1788 and surveyed 6 Sept. 1785 by James Riley and recorded in the State tax Rutherford County Court on 26 May 1807. The 1000 acres is accounted for in William's will - 400 acres to son, John, 200 acres to daughter, Catherine, 100 acres to her husband, Francis, and 50 acres to her son, William, 200 acres to daughter, Mary, 50 acres to her son, William. |
