George Duffield and the marriage is recorded in Volume 1 of the church archives. The church is currently called "Old Pine Street Church". According to legend, William met Phebe at a dinner in Philadelphia given by her uncle for General Washington and some of his soldiers, William was one of the soldiers present (date of the dinner is not known but it is thought that it was several years after the war.), Principal=Phebe Foreman
