(circa 1773 - 11 October 1843)
| Relationship | 3rd great-grandfather of Patricia Ann Monogue. |
| Last Edited | Dec 30, 2005 |
| Birth* | circa 1773 | Ireland, Michael's son, Patrick's marriage record, states that he is the son of Michael Cassin and Margaret Cassin of Queen's County, Ireland. Date of birth is based on the age of 70 listed on his tombstone. However, the tombstone was erected about 10 years later by his son-in-law so the accuracy of his age is not positive. |
| Marriage | Principal=Margaret Kelly | |
| Immigration* | between 1818 and 1819 | Quebec, Canada, These dates are calculated according to the places of birth of their children. Also, Michael Cassin is listed on a map of Valcartier in 1819., Principal=Margaret Kelly |
| Cen-Head* | 1825 | Valcartier, Quebec, Canada, head of a family of 9. Living beside them is his daughter, Mary, and her husband, Denis Hogan. | Burial* | 13 October 1843 | Valcartier, Quebec, Canada, Witnesses to the internment was Nicolas Vandal and Charles Martel. Interestingly, Michael has a gravestone erected in the St. Gabriel's Cemetery that appears to have been erected by his on-in-law, William Neilson. However, the church records of St. Catherine's in Portneuf County indicate his burial there. Anyway, this is what the gravestone states: The tombstone inscription states: Contiguous lies the body of her affectionate Father Michael Cassin who died on the 11th of Oct 1843 Aged 70 years (on the side) Underneath this stone Lies the body of Margaret The affectionate and Beloved Wife of William Neilson who died on the 22nd day of May 1853 Aged 38 years 6 mons and 22 days This memorial was erected by her husband July 1 1853 ![]() Michael Cassin Grave |

It is interesting that Michael is found in the 1860 census for Wisconsin and in the 1861 Census for Valcartier. The Wisconsin census was taken in July and Michael is listed with his wife and two children but the Valcartier lists him as living with his parents, married and does not list his wife or children. However, his sisters are also listed as married and also living in this house even though their husbands are not listed. It is possible that the census taker listed them as the children of Edward even though they were not physically living there. Some Valcartier researchers believe that the 1861 census was actually taken a year earlier. |

| Birth* | 8 November 1848 | Valcartier, Quebec, Canada |
| Baptism | 19 November 1848 | Valcartier, Quebec, Canada, The godfather was his uncle Thomas O'Neil and aunt Margaret O'Neill. One source says Margaret's name was Hogan but I do not think this is correct as Thomas married Bridget Martin in 1850 and Margaret Hogan was alive and living with her parents in 1851. I believe that the Margaret O'Neill is Thomas' sister, not his wife. This would still make her Thomas Cassin's aunt., Witness=Thomas O'Neill |
