(circa 1773 - 11 October 1842)
| Relationship | 3rd great-grandfather of Patricia Ann Monogue. |
| Last Edited | Mar 13, 2010 |
| Birth* | circa 1773 | Queen's County, Ireland, Michael's son, Patrick's marriage record, states that he is the son of Michael Cassin and Margaret Cassin of Queen's County, Ireland. Date of birth is based on the age of 70 listed on his tombstone. In church records, other people listed as coming from Queen's County are Michael Hogan and Mary O'Reilly and Lawrence Whelan and Mary Vaughn. |
| Marriage | say 1797 | Principal=Margaret Kelly |
| Immigration* | between 1818 and 1819 | Quebec County, Quebec, Canada, These dates are calculated according to the places of birth of their children. Also, Michael Cassin is listed on a map of Valcartier in 1819., Principal=Margaret Kelly |

| Death* | 11 October 1842 | Valcartier, Quebec, Canada, Witness=Margaret Kelly |
| Burial* | 13 October 1842 | St. Gabriel's Catholic Cemetery, Valcartier, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada, Record states that Michael Cassin was the husband of Mary Cassin of Valcartier and that he was 70 years old. Witnesses to the internment were Nicolas Vandal and Charles Martel. Interestingly, Michael has a gravestone erected in the St. Gabriel's Cemetery that appears to have been erected by his son-in-law, William Neilson. However, the church records of St. Catherine's in Portneuf County indicate his burial there. Anyway, this is what the gravestone states: The tombstone inscription states: Contiguous lies the body of her affectionate Father Michael Cassin who died on the 11th of Oct 1843 Aged 70 years (on the side) Underneath this stone Lies the body of Margaret The affectionate and Beloved Wife of William Neilson who died on the 22nd day of May 1853 Aged 38 years 6 mons and 22 days This memorial was erected by her husband July 1 1853 (Note: The stone states 1843 whereas the church records say 1842. Also no grave has been found for Margaret Kelly, wife of Michael, so it would seem that she was still alive when this stone was erected in 1853). ![]() |

It is interesting that Michael is found in the 1860 census for Wisconsin and in the 1861 Census for Valcartier. The Wisconsin census was taken in July and Michael is listed with his wife and two children but the Valcartier lists him as living with his parents, married and does not list his wife or children. However, his sisters are also listed as married and also living in this house even though their husbands are not listed. It is possible that the census taker listed them as the children of Edward even though they were not physically living there. Some Valcartier researchers believe that the 1861 census was actually taken a year earlier. |
