On Sunday, August 25, 1878 Francis Conway was murdered by Michael Farrell, he was shot in the head . Michael Farrell's trial started on October 30, 1878, the jury found him guilty, and he was sentenced to death by hanging. It is also known that Francis Conway was not the only man murdered by Farrell. David Maher was also murdered by an axe, but Farrell was acquitted on the grounds of self-defence.
