| Last Edited | Mar 13, 2010 |
| Birth* | 21 October 1781 | Date stated on plaque in the church of St. Gabriel's in Valcartier. |
| Note* | Marie's ancestors came from Paris to Quebec about 1650. She was the niece of the Catholic bishop of Quebec John Francois Hubert. | |
| Married Name | 6 January 1797 | Neilson |
| Marriage* | 6 January 1797 | Trois-Rivieres, St. Maurice County, Quebec, Canada, "On the sixth day of January, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, in this Protestant church of Trois-Rivieres, by me the undersigned minister of the said church, John Neilson, of the city of Quebec, printer, whose of age, and Marie Hubert of this parish whose underage, with the consent of Jean Baptiste Rieutard , her grandfather...", Principal=John Neilson |

| (Witness) Death | 1 February 1848 | Cap-Rouge, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada, Aged 71 years and 6 months., Principal=John Neilson |
| Census* | 1852 | Ste. Foy, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada, "Marie Hubert", independent, born Canada, Catholic, age 70 on her next birthday. Living with her: Isabel Neilson, female, born Canada, Catholic, single, 53 on her next birthday. Marguerite Neilson, female, born Canada, Catholic, single, 42 on her next birthday., Witness=Isabel Neilson, Witness=Margaret Neilson |
| Death* | 20 June 1866 | Ste. Foy, Quebec, Canada |
| Burial* | 23 June 1866 | St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Valcartier, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada, Questions about where Marie was actually buried have arisen. One copy of St. Gabriel's Church record states that she was buried in the church itself, while another copy states she was buried in the cemetery. A plaque in the church states she was interred there on the 26th of June. This is the abstract from the one church record: "On the 23rd day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty six, we the undersigned priest have interred in the Catholic Church of this parish the body of Marie Ursule Hubert, of the parish of St. Foye near(?) Quebec, widow of the late Honourable John Neilson of Quebec. Deceased on the 20th instant, aged 84 years and 7 months. Present Messrs.(?) William Neilson, N. Neilson Ross, Joseph Gonzague Vincent who have signed with us. P. Kelly, Pst." There is another signature believe it to say Hubert Neilson - has initials after the name (possibly M.D.) On the plaque, Carouge is "Cape Rouge" which is about 9 miles north of Quebec City. One researcher has stated that in 1911 when the church was rebuilt that the remains of Marie couldn't be found in the basement of the church - just a black cross hanging up there - so the question remains as to whether or not she was buried in the church or the cemetery. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
