This would make Ann's birthdate about 1837.
Ann Carter as daughter of Sarah Winter
- Baptimal record for Ann Carter states that she was born on the 11th of March, 1837. Her mother is listed as Sarah Carter, father unknown. A Sarah Winter married Richard Carter in Littlehampton in 1825, Richard died in 1832-3. Sarah had Ann three years after his death. She then married James Richardson in 1844. Daughter, "Ann Carter" is living with Sarah and James Richardson as a 14 year old in 1851 (would make birthdate 1837).
- Baptimal record for Sarah Winter in 1803 in Durley, states that she is the daughter of James Winter and Sally Light. The 1851 census states that "Sarah Richardson", was born in Durley and is 47 years old - this would put her birthdate as about 1803. The marriage certificate for Sarah Carter and James Richardson states that James Winter is her father. Also Sarah Richardson's death certificate in 1871 states she was 68 years old when she died, also placing the birthdate during 1803. Therefore, we can likely conclude that Sarah Winter married Richard Carter and later James Richardson.
