Females, age 5-10 = 2
Females, age 0-5 = 1.
Also in the county were C. B. Bauldin and G. A. Bauldin, likely his brothers5
Comment*1840Sanders Lott; Stewart County, Georgia, USA; Sanders Lott and family are neighbors to the William Baldwin family. William Baldwin died in 1842, consider where his children appear in 1850. In 1850, a John Baldwin age 11 is in the Sanders Lott household. This may be the male age 0-4 in the William D. Baldwin household in 1840. Also note a 15 year old Sarah Baldwin in the household of Ira T. Hobbs and wife Catharine. The Hobbs were neighbors to William D.'s brother Christopher in 1850. Sarah may be one of the girls counted William D.'s household in the 1840 census.
Tax List*1841Lumpkin District, Stewart County, Georgia, USA; appeared on this tax list, the first surviving tax list for Stewart County, as "William D. It appears he was taxed on the Cherokee County land and not that in Stewart County.6

Military15 March 1862CSA, 37th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Co A, Alabama, USA; the Alabama Archives database, and the NARA Confederate Soldiers Index, have a William J Balkcom listed in two units. For now I am saying they are two different people. The William J. Baldwin in the 37th Regiment is listed as age 29 at enlistment, in 1862, a couple of years too old to be the William J.
