Mathews folder) in a matter of James N. Mathews vs. David M. Mathews and other Caveators. David and the others (his siblings?) appealed an appointment by the Court of the Ordinary of James N. Mathews as Adminiistrator of the estate of James M. Mathews. James M. Mathews had been guardian of James M. Mathews who was identified as "an imbecile and insane person". The Superior Court denied the appeal, leaving James N. Mathews as administrator.4 
(Witness) Executor4 October 1875(Administrator) James N. Mathews, (Deceased) James M. Mathews; Court of Ordinary, Crawford County, Georgia, USA; James N. Mathews, administrator of the estate of James Mathews, deceased, and former guardian petitioned the court to appraise the estate of James Mathews. An earlier petition on 6 February, 1871, identified James Mathews as imbecile [still living] with James N. Mathews appointed guardian. A similar court paper indicates James is still living on July 2, 1873. [I haven't determined which James Mathews this is but it's possibly #360 born 1795, the James who married Martha. The long responsibility of guardianship and then estate administration suggests that James N. Mathews and James Mathews (ward) were related. A lawsuit in Superior Court by David M. Mathews against James N. Mathews, challenging appointment of James N. Mathews as administrator, suggests strongly that James Mathews b. 1795 is the correct James. David M. Mathews was son of James b. 1795].4

This may have been "Elements of History, Ancient and Modern", By Joseph Emerson Worcester, published 1845.
This Mt. Carmel Academy was likely associated with the Mount Carmel Primitive Baptist Church Crawford Co. A James Mathews was identified as an elder of this church.2,3
