It names daughter Nancy Balkcum as the main beneficiary, with other beneficiaries grandson James Lucien Balkcum (son of my daughter Mariah), granddaughter Mary Ellen Johnson (daughter of my daughter Mariah), and grandsons John Balkcum, Harmon Balkcum, and Lemuel Balkcum. The executor was "my friend" William L. Robinson and Witnesses were Isaiah S. Robinson and Abner Robinson.2,3,4

The same citation lists another LaFayette Balkcom, from Jones County Georgia, with exactly the same unit and promotion date information. Citation 2 lists only one Lafayette Balkcom from the South, in the same unit, but inducted as a Private and discharged at the rank of Private.3,4,1

"Allowed and given to the widow of said dec'd for the support of She and her family - One Sow and three pigs, about three barrels of corn, about 300 lbs of pork." The detailed list of who bought particular items included many purchases by "Widow" (Sally).
