| Comment* | there is no known link between these Johnston County Brannons and Rosia, our ancestor, who lived in SC in 1808 with her children. However, the death date of this William Brannon is interesting with respect to Rosia appearing as head of household, and he needs to be looked at further. | |

| Cen-Head* | 1820 | Henry Murphy; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, male age 18-25, with females 1 26-45, 1 10-16, 1 18-25. Household is on same census page as William Balkom.1 |
| Cen-Head* | 1820 | Daniel Murphy; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, male age 26-44 (Daniel) with males 2 under 10; females 2 18-26 (one probably wife Elizabeth), 2 10-16, and 1 16-18. Notes: - I identify this family as the one that after 1830 moved to Lowndes County, Georgia and then to Dale County, Alabama; Daniel and Elizabeth ages match; - If this is the same family that later had close ties to James E. Balkcom and wife Mary Polly Murphy, then it seems unlikely that they are parents of Mary Polly Murphy, who would have been under 10 in their household in 1820. There was no female under 10 counted.2 |
| Cen-Head* | 1820 | William Balkcom; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, "William Balkom", male age 26 to 45 (000010 20021). Females 2 u10, 2 26-45 (probably wife (either Nancy #2002 or Mariah #2003)), and the other sister or half-sister Mariah or Nancy, and 1 over 45 (probably mother Hester). I say the female over 45 is Hester, but Hester in 1810 had 5 males under 25 in the household, 2 of which were under 10. William was the only male in the 1820 household. A complete neighbor comparison will have to be made between 1810 and 1820, but it appears that some William Balkom neighbors match those of Hester Balkcom in 1810 so this may be the original John and Hester home.3 |
| Cen-Head* | 1820 | Timothy Murphy; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, "Timothy Murphy", male age over 45; females 2 26-45; slaves males 2 under 14, 1 14-26; female 14-26. Adjacent to Daniel Murphy household.4 |
| Cen-Head* | 1820 | Daniel Murphy; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, male over 45, 2 males under 10; females 1 18-26 (possible mother of Mary (Polly) Murphy), 1 under 10 (possible Mary (Polly)). Adjacent to Timothy Murphy household5 |
| Cen-Head* | 1820 | Daniel Murphy; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, male age over 45, with 2 males under 10, females 1 26-45, 2 under 10, 2 18-266 |
| Cen-Head* | 1820 | Timothy Murphy; Duplin County, North Carolina, USA, "Timothy Murphey", male age over 45, with males 2 under 10, 2 10-16; females 1 over 45 (prob Mary (Polly) Alderman), 2 under 10, 1 10-16. Four female slaves: 3 under 13, 1 26-44. Note that there are two Timothy Murphy's in this census. A neighbor check is far from conclusive, but comparing 1820 Timothy neighbors Frederick Ezzell and Thomas Lanier suggests that this Timothy is in the same location as the 1810 Duplin census Timothy.7 |
