Census* 1855 Henry County, Alabama, USA, "Mr. Brannon", male over 21, with 1 male u21 and females 2 u21, no colored. It's just my guess that this is JW Brannon since JW is one of two Brannon heads of household (wtih Rosier) in Henry County between 1850 and 1860, according to my review of census.8
Comment* 1860 lots of confusion whether this family same as 1850 census family. JW and Lucinda match, but only 2 of 5 children clear match. Possibly now adults William W.. Jos B., and Mary A. Possibly Thomas J. same as Jackson. Ransom and Sarah match although slight age mismatch Sarah. Thomas J (1850) may be same as Jackson (1860) based on age. Mary A (1850) and Rebecca (1860) same birth year 1842, so don't know.
Cen-Head* 7 September 1860 AL Henry Co Census 1860; Rowville Beat #5, hh58, Henry County, Alabama, USA, "Jesse W. Galloway", male age 46, farmer, $750 real estate, $880 personal, born in SC. Adjacent to household of William Galoway and wife Mary. I'm calling William the son of Jesse and Lucinda. His birth date and place match the William in Jesse's household in 1850.

Nearly undecipherable first name, and not listed as head of household (instead listed in household of Ellen Crop), and born NC vice SC, but could still be Jesse W. given poor census taking in 5th Precinct Henry County this census.11

Father   William Galloway2 b. c 1780

Birth* before 1810 South Carolina, USA, date guess based on marriage date, supported by reference which states c1811. Researcher states location is Darlington District, SC2
Married Name 13 March 1824 Williams1
Cen-Enum* 11 September 1860 Freeman's Beat No 9, hh#75, Henry County, Alabama, USA, 55 year old Mary Williams, born in NC, lived in household of Galloways, working as a domestic. There's no proof that this Mary Williams is actually Mary Ann Galloway (born before 1810, allegedly in SC according to one researcher).

Complete household:
"J. E. Brannon", male age 29, farmer, $3000 real estate, $1195 personal, born in Alabama, not reading/writing;
"Argent Brannon", female age 26, born in Ala;

Cen-Head* 21 June 1870 AL Henry Co Census 1870; 9th Precinct, hh#63, Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama, USA, "Mary Williams", female age 60, keeping house, born SC. Adjacent household was Argent Gay Brannon, widow of Jehoiakim who was killed in the Civil War. Note age too young for this to be Mary Ann Galloway but this is almost certainly the Mary Williams who lived in Jehoiakim household in 1860.4

Birth-Alt. between 1800 and 1810 3
Birth* circa 1816 South Carolina, USA4
Marriage* before 1837 Caroline (?); marriage assumed based on census household; date is guessed based on age of oldest household child in 18504
Land* 15 August 1837 Sparta Land Office, Pike County, Alabama, USA, 40 acres 11N 22E, Section 2 NENE5
Cen-Head* 1840 AL Henry Co Census 1840; Henry County, Alabama, USA, "Melvin Galaway", male 30-40 (Melvin), 2 females age 40-50, male 10-15, possibly males under 5 but record is smudged. Adjacent to Rosier Branan household so this suggests that this Melvin is Eleazer's son. If so, listed age may be wrong since this age would make him the oldest son and I don't believe that is correct. And, the Melvin Galloway in the 1850 census is clearly Eleazer's son based on Eleazer estate records. The children listed in that census, and listed wife, are not in this household in 1840.
"?010010000000 0000002000000"6
Marriage 5 July 1852 Martha Johnson; Henry County, Alabama, USA, not clear that the marriage is to this Melvin Galloway, but ages are relatively matched7

If this is the same Peter Galloway, then he died in Indiana after 1857.
Birth* before 1775 1
Military* say 1776 American Revolution, Continental Army, Francis Marion's Brigade, South Carolina, USA, "Peter Galloway", non-commissioned officer or private in the Revolutionary War||It's not confirmed that this Peter Galloway is the same as the one appearing in the census of 1790 in Lancaster County, but seems probable since Marion's Brigade was raised and operated in eastern SC for the most part. The Gregg reference has Marion raiding and fighting in 1780 in the Lynches Creek area, citing for example the Battle of Port's Ferry.3,4
(Witness) Military July 1780 William Galloway; American Revolution, South Carolina Militia Volunteers, Hanging Rock, Camden District, South Carolina, USA, "William Galloway, 20 days in the Cavalry under Major Robert Crawford at Hanging Rock". Peter and William Galloway both served with Robert Crawford. Hanging Rock Creek merges with Little Lynches Creek about 5 miles SE of Kershaw.5
Military 4 August 1780 American Revolution, South Carolina Militia Volunteers, Lancaster County, South Carolina, USA, "Peter Galloway ... paid for 40 days (25 June to Aug 4) in the cavalry under Capt George Dunlap and General Sumter at Hanging Rock".

It seems likely that the Lancaster County Peter Galloway of 1790 is the one with this Revolutionary War service record because of his service record links to William Galloway #1730, and his duty in the Lancaster/Kershaw areas.

Hanging Rock is about 23 miles north of Camden. On August 1 General Thomas Sumter's militia staged an unsuccessful attack on British forces in this area, and there was another engagement on August 6. These involved forces of a few hundred on either side. Casualties were high, particularly on the British side.6
Comment* say 1781 Alexander Galloway; Cheraws District, South Carolina, USA, Alexander and Peter Galloway both served with George Dunlap (Alexander - Col Dunlap; Peter - Capt Dunlap)7
Military 9 March 1781 American Revolution, South Carolina Militia Volunteers, South Carolina, USA, 16 February to March 9: "21 days in the cavalry under Lt Col Henry Hamilton & Lt James Craig under Gen Sumter"6
Military January 1783 American Revolution, South Carolina Militia Volunteers, South Carolina, USA, 57 days with wagon and team on duty at the Continental Station in Kershaw6
Event-Misc 7 February 1784 South Carolina, USA, paid for military service above6
Cen-Head* 1790 SC Lancaster Co Census 1790; Lancaster County, South Carolina, USA, "Petter Galaway", free white male, with 1 male under 16 and 1 female; lived next to household of William Galloway, ID#17308
