JournalIntro* James Mathews of Georgia is the earliest identified Mathews ancestor of the Oklahoma Balkcom line. James' son William E. Mathews had a daughter Josephine who married Brantly Balkcom. Their son John Ira Balkcom moved to Oklahoma in the early 1900s.
