Mr. Enoch Galloway, was born July 27th, 1795, in Darlington District, S.C., where he resided till the day of his death, which occurred Nov. 25, 1861. He was married to his wife, Mrs. Sena Galloway, Dec. 24, 1817, with whom
he lived happily till 18th June last, at which time she was taken away by the hand of God. He was the father of nine children, all of whom he lived to bring up to mature age, and all of whom he left to mourn their irreparable loss. He was a kind father and husband, a good citizen, and an excellent neighbor.... He joined the M.E. Church some forty years ago, and continued a zealous and faithful member till the day of his departure from earth....He was afflicted with that distressing disease, hydrothorax, for several months, while sitting upright, was compelled to labor hard for the breath of life....He seemed conscious that his end was close at hand for several days previous to his dissolution, and often while suffering the most intense pain, praised God aloud, and said he should soon go to reap his reward and to meet his dear departed companion in heaven. He retained his rationality in the highest degree down to his last moments, and while sitting in his chair, at 3½ o’clock p.m., grasped me by the hand, and his ransomed soul immediately took its flight and went up to heaven in a perfect blaze of glory...... A pension application in Henry County, 1920/12/04, by Lucy V. Gallaway (widow) states that indicates that Hillary J. Gallaway entered the unit April 1862, was wounded at The Battle of Perryville, Ky, and left the service at Greensborough, North Carolina 1865/04/27. I see no records of a Henry County Hillary Gallaway married to a Lucy and it's not clear that these Hillarys are the same person. I see only one Hillary Galloway in Henry or Dale County in the pre-Civil War time frame.

A third record, for "Hilliary James Galloway" sourced as Census, Tax Collector, Dale County, Alabama 1907-08, shows enlistment at Clopton, Alabama 11 March, 1862, date of birth 13 Oct, 1837. 4th Sergeant, paroled, discharged May, 1865. Address: 1907-08, Capps, Ala.2,7

I think this commission was for father James #1707 rather than son James #1700, since the son could have been no older than 19 and was possibly younger.5,6

Extract of Deed, James Galloway to Absalom Galloway: "...witnesseth that for and in consideration of twenty Pounds Sterling money of the said state to him in hand paid by the said Absalom Galloway at or before the signing sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt of which I the said James Galloway do acknowledge and have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain sell deliver and confirm unto the said Absolom Galloway in his actual possession now being by virtue of a bargain and sale to him for twenty pounds to him his heirs assigns forever a tract of land containing one hundred and ninety six acres part of two tracts and for the said Galloways [transcriber's note: there is no punctuation in Galloways] mother Rebecca Galloway is to have her life time in this said tract situate in Darlington County on the north side of Linches Creek granted to James Galloway bounded on William Barreks line together with all the houses, barnes, edifices, buildings, gardens, orchards, ferrys, waters, water courses, prophets, commodities, hereditament appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the said one hundred and ninety six acres of land herein mentioned the ditch to be the line between the two and all other lines agreeable to the three brothers with all the rights titles, true trust possession benefits property plains and demands whatsoever of him the said James Galloway to have and to hold the said one hundred and ninety six acres of land with all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Absalom Galloway his heirs and assigns forever ....

James lived in the household of Henry Cutchen (age 41, farmer, born in SC), and July Ann Cutchen (age 24, born in in Alabama). On the same census page were Hutto and Kirkland families. Parents Jesse and Lucinda lived in their household of nine not far away. It's possible that James hired out to the Cutchen family for farming.4 
Military*28 March 1861CSA, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Company B, Abbeville, Alabama, USA; from the cited researcher: He was listed as sick in Wericler (sp?) Hospital in Richmond, VA since August 18, 1862. A memo in the Alabama Archives show him returned to duty in October, 1862, but absent in November 1862. One assertion is that he was killed in 1863.2,5 
Death*circa 1863a James Galloway, reported as a relative of William W. Galloway, was reported disappeared in Pennsylvania July 1, 1863, no confirmation of his death.2,6

The 1850 census lists presumed father William E. in the household as having married within the year. I think Elly's age in this census is really 4 months, not 4 years.

This assumes of course that Elly in this census is really James Eleazor, but there is pretty good evidence for that including estate papers of Eleazer Galloway.3

The young boy Elly appears to be listed as age 4 (legibility) but I suspect this is a census error and he is really a baby and son of the recently married WE and Jane, and is named after his grandfather Eleazer who at times went by Elly.5
