The Gregg reference has Marion raiding and fighting in 1780 in the Lynches Creek area, citing for example the Battle of Port's Ferry.3,4

Peter and William Galloway both served with Robert Crawford. Hanging Rock Creek merges with Little Lynches Creek about 5 miles SE of Kershaw.5

It seems likely that the Lancaster County Peter Galloway of 1790 is the one with this Revolutionary War service record because of his service record links to William Galloway #1730, and his duty in the Lancaster/Kershaw areas.

Hanging Rock is about 23 miles north of Camden. On August 1 General Thomas Sumter's militia staged an unsuccessful attack on British forces in this area, and there was another engagement on August 6. These involved forces of a few hundred on either side. Casualties were high, particularly on the British side.6

There is a Thomas Galloway listed in Company F of the 18th Alabama Infantry. From the cited researcher: Richard Galloway (a descendant) reported that Thomas told of being ordered to continue a march when he stopped to help his brother, who was shot when walking beside him. (My note: this may have been brother James B. Galloway, who was reported killed in 1863.) Thomas was wounded at Chancellorsville, Belgrave, and Petersburg, according to Archive records. He was discharged April 9, 1865, a prisoner of war with a leg wound.2,6

The young boy Elly appears to be listed as age 4 (legibility) but I suspect this is a census error and he is really a baby and son of the recently married WE and Jane, and is named after his grandfather Eleazer who at times went by Elly.6 
Death*before 1864Eleazer Galloway estate papers identify him as deceased. Warren's book says he lived in Neshoba County, Mississippi4,7
