JournalIntro* Elizabeth Jane Clark; James Preston and Elizabeth Ann Clark are the earliest identified Preston and Clark ancestors of the Oklahoma Balkcom line. James was born in Ireland and Elizabeth in England, and lived their adult lives in Crawford County, Georgia and Dale County, Alabama. They had a daughter Ann Nancy Preston who married William E. Mathews. Their daughter Josephine was the mother of Ida Baldwin who moved with John Ira Balkcom to Oklahoma in the early 1900s.

Much of the Preston and Clark relationship information comes from other researchers who have done extensive work on these families.

Elizabeth's Baldwin's son Bryant later married adjacent Nancy Mathews' daughter Josephine.10
