Birth* circa 1840 Georgia, USA1
(Witness) Comment 1850 Sarah Baldwin; Mockinson Gap District, Stewart County, Georgia, USA, Suspect a relationship between Sarah Baldwin b1835, John Baldwin b1839, and Harrison Baldwin b1840 in Georgia. In the 1850 Census they lived in separate households of other familes in the same district in Stewart County, and in the same district as Elizabeth Baldwin b1810 (ID#52) and family. It's possible that they are children of William D. Baldwin (ID#51) who died in 1842, or his brother Harrison Baldwin (ID#1167, not a lot known about him).

Sarah Baldwin, age 15, lived with Ira Hobbs and family, John Baldwin, age 11, lived with Sanders Lott and family, and Harrison Baldwin, age 10, lived with George Osborn and family.2
Cen-Enum* 1850 GA Stewart Co Census 1850; Mockinson Gap District, Stewart County, Georgia, USA, as a ten year old child, living with George Osborn, age 80, born in Virginia, and Martha Osborn, age 52, born in Georgia. Possible maternal grandparents?3

"Jane Osborn", age 16, born in Georgia'

"Frances Osborn", female age 13, born in Georgia;

Cen-Enum* 19 July 1860 AL Dale Co Census 1860; Newton Post Office, Dale County, Alabama, USA, a 20 year old, farm laborer, living in household with Elizabeth Baldwin and 3 younger children. Suspect he is not a son of Elizabeth since he did not live in her household in 1850.5

Comment* Father born in NC, mother in GA2
Birth* 1818 Franklin County, Alabama, USA, Adult in 1840 when he purchased land in Alabama1,2
Cen-Head* 1840 AL Barbour Co Census 1840; Barbour County, Alabama, USA, male age 20-29, with another male age 20-29 in the household.3
Land* 1 October 1840 Sparta Land Office, Dale County, Alabama, USA, three separate purchases totaling 200 acres. All referenced to the St Stephens Meridian survey:

T5N R23E:
Section 12 (80.43 acres) W1/2SW
Section 1 (80.33 acres) W1/2NW
Section 2 (40 acres) SWSE

The land today is on the eastern boundary of Ft Rucker. Sections 1 and 2 contained Claybank Creek, and Section 12 contained part of Lake Tholocco.

Note that Christopher S (possibly John) Baldwin bought land just north of Section 2 on the same day. The original record shows middle initial clearly as S., so very uncertain that this is Christopher John. On the other hand, this is the only adult Christopher Baldwin recorded in Alabama in this time period.
