Note | I now have any documentation to support the linking of these parents to Marie - in her wedding registration, she stated that her parents were John St. Croix and Elizabeth Stamp. My mother and her siblings (who were the grandchildren of Mary Frances St. Croix) always called her "Auntie Mae". Bren St. Croix, said a niece and nephew of Mae's lived on the same road as he did and that their father, was a brother to Mae. They said her name was Mary, not Marie, but she had a sister named Marie who married a man named Ollerhead. (This information contradicts her obituary and her marriage registration as Mae is named as Marie in those documents). They also said that Mae was not a daughter of Benjamin but both she and her sister, were daughters of John, brother to Ben. So Ben was their uncle (if indeed, John & Ben were brothers, as some have claimed). If that were true, then Mary Frances (St. Croix) Walsh and Mae would have been first cousins.2,3 | |
