Note From another researcher: There are a lot of O'Reillys who show up as witnesses at Flynn weddings. John O'Reilly and Mary Whelan had children Patrick, Frances, William, Eliza, and John (and also Ellen who married William Collins). I wonder if Anne Whelan Flynn might have been a sister of Mary Whelan O'Reilly (so then the O'Reillys would have been first cousins of the Flynns). If so, then you would be related to Archbishop Roche since Mary Whelan O'Reilly was Archbishop Roche's great-grandmother. It's a bit of a long shot, and there's not really any way to prove it.

Deathcirca 1869 Newfoundland, Canada1
Court Case16 August 1869 St. Mary's, Placentia & St. Mary's District, Newfoundland, Canada; Saint John's, Newfoundland, Supreme Court:
"Henry T. B. Wood of Saint John's aforesaid and trustee of the insolvent estate of John Whelan of Saint Mary's in the Southern District, planter, make oath and saith that Benjamin St. Croix is justly and truly indebted into this deponet as such trustee as aforesaid in the sum of one hundred and twenty one dollars and eight two cents being for goods sols and delivered by the said John Whelan to the said Benjamin St. Croix and at his request.
Sworn before me at Saint Johns this 16th day of August AD 1869.
Henry T. B. Wood"
Note: Although the record does not say that Benjamin St. Croix is also from St. Mary's, it is reasonable to think that he was. Also, there was a younger Benjamin St. Croix in St. Mary's, who was about 19 years old at the time of this suit, it could possibly have been him. A similar suit was filed on the same day against a John St. Croix, again it is not clear which John this was. However, it is noted that Benjamin St. Croix (born 1843) was the son of a John St. Croix.; Principal=Benjamin St. Croix2
Court Case16 August 1869 St. Mary's, Newfoundland, Canada; Saint John's, Newfoundland, Supreme Court:
"Henry T. B. Wood of Saint John's aforesaid and trustee of the insolvent estate of John Whelan of Saint Mary's in the Southern District, planter, make oath and saith that John St. Croix is justly and truly indebted into this deponet as such trustee as aforesaid in the sum of forty two dollars and sixty cents being for goods sols and delivered by the said John Whelan to the said John St. Croix and at his request.
Sworn before me at Saint Johns this 16th day of August AD 1869.
Henry T. B. Wood"
Note: it is not clear which "John St. Croix" this referred to as it did not say if he was from St. Mary's also, although it would not be unlikely. Also, a similar claim was made against Benjamin St. Croix, so it is possible that John St. Croix could have been Benjamin's father.; Principal=John St. Croix1
