Burns. Sponsors being Clement Muise and Madeline Goutiere. Priest A.M.O'Driscoll, Priest. Date - October 1, 1937. Confirmation: took place at St. Mary's Cathedral, Halifax, June 18, 1933."1 |
Residence | 1968 | 1471 Lower Water Street, Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada; In the Voters' list for Halifax for this year, listed at this address are: Boudreau, Louise Boudreau, Madeline, steno.; Principal=Louise Goutiere2 |
Death | 19 December 2000 | Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; In 2001, Mrs. Theriault contacted the Marshall family in Hamilton, Ontario and told them that Mary Madeline died recently. Apparently she had worked for the Red Cross in Halifax for some 40 years and had never married and had no known living family. She was found in her apartment alone by a Red Cross worker who did not know what to do since it was going into the Christmas weekend and everything was shutting down. Not wanting to leave the body not cared for until after Christmas, the worker called the Public Trustee’s office in Halifax and by chance was put in touch with Mrs. Theriault. In her kindness, she took care of the burial arrangements, etc. As a result, Mrs. Theriault took a keen interest in this case and tried very hard to find any heirs.3 |
Obituary | 22 December 2000 | Chronicle Herald newspaper, Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada; "BOUDREAU, Mary Madeline — 74, Halifax, died December 19, 2000. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Louise (Gouticre) (sic) Boudreau. She was a dedicated employee and worked for the Canadian Red Cross for 45 years retiring from the position of secretary to the Commissioner. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Today in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral 12:15 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Basilica, Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville."3 |
Burial | 23 December 2000 | Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, Canada; Funeral conducted by J. A. Snow Funeral Home and held in St. Mary's Basilica, Halifax. In the Estate Papers #51305 filed the Public Trustees office of Nova Scotia in 2005, it states that Mary Madeline is buried with her mother. I suspect that this decision was made by the Public Trustee in 2000 because at the time no family members could be found.3 |
