(Interestingly, the Fort was actually abandoned in 1871; maybe it became the headquarters for the Constabulary for a time).
The Royal Newfoundland Gazette (September 2, 1879) stated that Charles Marshall and Elizabeth Murray, the only daughter of William Murray of Fort Townshend were married by Rev. Forristal on August 28 1879. (church record states August 29th).; Principal=Charles Marshall1
