Obituary16 February 1921 The Scranton Republican, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States; "Well Known Education Ill But One Week - Francis X. McAndrew, aged 23 years, for some time principal of Thomas Henry (No. 23) School, North Scranton, and one of the best known young men in the city, died at 1:45am at the family home, 1312 Swetland Street, West Scranton, a victim of sleeping sickness. He is the second victim of the disease in Scranton. Prof. McAndrew was taken ill just one week ago to the day. Drs. Moylan, McDonnell and Reedy, who were called in on the case, diagnosed his illness as that of sleeping sickness and he was given the best of treatment, but nothing availed. During the past week, no less than six of the most prominent doctors of the city were called in consultation. At times during the past three days he was conscious and recognized members of the family and talked with the nurse in attendance. All day yesterday he seemed cheerful and it was believed by the attending physicians that he would recover. At 9 o'clock last night, he opened his eyes and talked with his parents, sisters, and brothers for a period of ten minutes. At 11pm, he suffered another unconscious spell and never regained his senses or talked with anyone until the end at 1:45. The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. McAndrew Sr., three sisters, and two brothers, Mary R., Ann, Marjorie, William and A. J. McAndrew, Jr. Announcement of the funeral will be made later."3

(Witness) Marriage25 June 1928 St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States; Newspaper Article: "One of June's prettiest weddings was solemnized in St. Patrick's church, West Scranton, when Miss Marguerite Syron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Syron of 514 Sumner Avenue, became the bride of Joseph Donnegan, of Luzerne Street. The ceremony and the nuptial mass, which followed were performed by Rev. William P. McAndrew, of Towanda, Pa., a cousin of the bride. During the ceremony and the mass several selections were sung by Joseph Kane. The bride was charming in a French frock, of flesh pussy-willow taffeta, fashioned with tight fitting bodice, and bouffant effect skirt, with the irregular line. Her hat was a picture hat of orchid lace straw, with satin streamers. She carried a shower bouquet of butterfly roses and valley lilies, and wore a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Her maid, Miss Anna Syron, a sister, wore a frock of French blue shadow taffeta, fashioned with basque bodice and ruffled skirt, caught at right side with bouquet of French flowers with streamers of rose satin ribbon. Her hat was flesh lace straw with scarf of flesh tulle, hanging to the hemline of her dress. She carried an arm bouquet of ophelia roses and baby breath. Mr. Donnegan was attended by his brother, Thomas Donnegan. After the ceremony, a reception was given for the immediate relatives at the bride's at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Donnegan have left for a motor trip through the New England states and will be home at 327 Sumner Ave. after July 10."

Donegan, white, laborer, born Pennsylvania, age 23, living at 328 17th Street in Scranton, first marriage, not related to intended spouse. Syron, white, operator, born Scranton, age 22, residing at 514 Sumner Ave., Scranton, first marriage, daughter of Martin Syron, laborer, and Bridget Killen, both of Scranton and both born Ireland. Married on June 25, 1928 in Scranton by W.P. McAndrew, Catholic priest (likely related to Margaret as his mother was a Syron.); Principal=Joseph Donnegan, Principal=Marguerite R. Syron2,3
(Witness) Marriage31 January 1929 Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States; Marriage License Application #152 in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania states:
