On the thirteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and one, before me Cyrille Renaud, Public Notary, residing in the Parish of St. Ambroise of la Jeune Lorette and Charles Jack and Lawrence Corrigan, both farmers residing in the parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier, witnesses requested for the purpose of these presents personally appeared Margaret Jack, wife of Francis Smith, residing in the Parish of St. Gabriel of Valcartier, who requested us the said Notary and witnesses to write down and receive in due form of law her last will and testament.

 

1 I confirm, approve and ratify the donation made this day by me and my husband Francis Smith by the deed before Cyrille Renaud, Notary, of my lands and moveable properties to my son William Smith to the charge to pay the sum of four hundred dollars to Thomas Smith, his brother, the sum of four hundred dollars to his five sisters as mentioned in the said deed of donation and to pay the sum of fifty dollars to the donors of said donation as mentioned.

 

2 I nominate constitute and appoint my husband, Francis Smith, as Executor of this my will.

 

3 I revoke all wills and testaments I may have heretofore made and I declare the present be my true last will & testament.

 

Done and passed at St. Gabriel of Valcartier under Notarial Number eighteen hundred and ninety nine. And after the reading of this present by the Notary to the said Margaret Jack in presence of witnesses, the said Margaret Jack has signed in presence of the Notary and witnesses and Notary and witnesses have signed in presence of Margaret Jack and in presence of each other.

 

Four words scratched void. Three marginal notes are good.
