Last Will of John Robert Thompson

On this seventeenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven,  before me Cyrille Renaud, Public Notary, residing in the Parish of St. Ambroise of Jeune Lorette, undersigned, personally came and appeared John Robert Thompson, of St. Gabriel of Valcartier, Farmer,  who being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding hath requested us the said Notary to write down and receive in due form of law his last will and testament  which he has declared in manner and form following, that is to say:

 

Firstly,  I desire that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses be paid by my Executor as soon as possible after my death.

 

Secondly, I give to my wife Margaret Jane Grey all my moveable and immoveable properties wherever the same may be found and to whatever the same shall amount hereby constituting my said wife my universal legatee.

 

3º I nominate, constitute and appoint my said wife Margaret Jane Grey as Executrix of this my will.

 

4º I revoke all wills and codicils I may have heretofore made and I declare this to be my only true last will and testament.

 

The present will was thus declared by the said Testator to the said Notary in the presence of Pierre Savard, Merchant, and Francis Savard, Blacksmith, of St. Ambroise, witnesses requested for these presents, read to the Testator by Notary in the presence of said witnesses who declared to understand it fully and to persist therein.

 

Done and passed at the residence of Notary under Notarial Number twelve hundred and sixty three. And signed by the said Testator with and in the presence of said Notary and witnesses also hereunto subscribing in his presence and in the presence of each other after due reading hereof.
