Last Edited | Sep 4, 2005 |
Relationship | 2nd great-grandfather of Zela Naomi Franks |
Charts | J Balkcom Tree (Maternal) - Ancestors of Zela (Franks) Balkcom Descendants of Jeremiah Franks and Morning Fisher Descendants of Nicholas Fisher and Elizabeth Kearse |
Birth* | circa 1791 | Georgia, USA; In the 1800 Rutherford County, North Carolina census, there is a Peter Franks and a Henry Franks listed on the same page as John Fisher (Jeremiah's future father-in-law). Based on the census figures, Jeremiah could have been the son of either Peter or Henry. The 1850 census lists Jeremiah's birthplace as Georgia. Also in the 1880 Izard County, AR census, Oliver lists his father's birthplace as Georgia. A land deed in 1856 states Jeremiah was 63, so he may have been born in 1793.2 |
Marriage* | circa 1815 | Possibly North Carolina or Tennessee, USA; Mourning Fisher was the daughter of John Fisher and Elizabeth Tubb. They lived in Rutherford County, North Carolina before moving to the Caney Fork River area in Tennessee where the Franks were living.; Principal=Morning Fisher3 |

Immigration* | between 1827 and 1830 | Alabama, USA; The date that they left Tennessee is based on the birthdates of Elizabeth and David (1850 census states Elizabeth was born in TN and David in AL). According to Sheila Brennan, a descendant of Lemuel Franks (son of Jeremiah), several of the Franks were in the War of 1812 and went with Andrew Jackson to fight at the Battle of New Orleans. The army passed through Northern Alabama and this may have influenced the family to migrate there several years later. |
