(circa 1873 - )
Last Edited | Mar 5, 2017 |
Adoptive mother | Elizabeth Emberly1 b. c 1863 |
Birth | circa 1873 | 1 |
Note | 29 June 1884 | A, now deceased family member, stated that this child was adopted and had previouly been an indentured servant. The baptismal record states that the "parents" are Richard Marshall and Elizabeth Emberly. Which Richard Marshall is this? There is a baptismal record for an "A. Mary", listed as daughter of Richard Marshall and Mary Ann Pine in 1878 (the same day as their marriage). One possibility is that they adopted her when she was small and then for some reason, she was later given to Elizabeth Emberly. Elizabeth Emberly could not have been her mother as she would have only been 10 years old when Alice was born. There is no marriage record in the Burin Catholic records for Richard Marshall and Elizabeth Emberly and in 1884, he was still married to Mary Ann Pine.; Principal=Elizabeth Emberly, Witness=Richard Marshall |
Baptism | 29 June 1884 | St. Patrick Catholic Church, Burin, Burin Peninsula, Newfoundland, Canada; States that the child is 11 years old.1 |

Note | All information that is presented here is from another researcher, I do not have documentation to support it. It's possible that Ann and Ben St. Croix were the grandparents of "my Benjamin St. Croix) who married Sarah Bishop.2
Birth | circa 1786 | Date of birth is based on the age mentioned in the court records of 1819 of St. Mary's.1 |

Marriage | Supposedly Benjamin and his wife Ann had 7 children.; Principal=Ben St. Croix2
Court Case | 1819 | St. Mary's Bay, Placentia & St. Mary's District, Newfoundland, Canada; There is a Ben St Croix & Ann St Croix who show up in court in St Mary's in 1819. According to Court Records, this Ben was age 77 & his wife, Ann, was age 33 and they had seven children. Ann filed for separation for abuse and support for the children and she was given the house and 6 Pounds at the the end of the fishing season plus 5 pounds per year for the children. Two years later, Ann was back in court for child support from Edward Power for the birth of their child but he had taken off for Ireland. Some names who are showing up for that time period are John, Patrick, William, Edward, Joe, Catherine, and Elizabeth St. Croix. I am unable to prove they are the Children without birth records.; Principal=Ben St. Croix3 |
Court Case | 7 October 1822 | St. Mary's Bay, Newfoundland, Canada; From St. Mary's Surrogate Court Records: Edmund Power, fisherman, was sued by Ann St. Croix (who was separated from husband) because she had had a male child by Edmund on July 7, 1822. She has not lived with him since 1819. He has eloped leaving 4/5/4 in employers's hands. This to be used for support. Another researcher, stated he had fled to Ireland, however, it is believed that he eventually married Ann. (These records may be part of the records of the Southern Circuit).; Principal=Edmund Power4,5 |
