STAPLETON, Anna Maude (nee Vail) - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11th, 2013 at the Chancellor Park Nursing Home in St. John’s, NL after a lengthy illness, Anna Maude Stapleton aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Joseph Stapleton (1997). Leaving to mourn daughter Maureen (Raymond Sungaila); Sons: Derek (Anne Squires), Patrick, and Timothy; granddaughters: Amy and Lisa. Also leaving to mourn sisters: Rosemary (Crawley), Patricia (O’Brien), Jeannette (Mauphin); brother in law Terry; brother Michael Vail. The Family would like to extend a sincere thank you and appreciation to the management and staff of The Chancellor Park Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Anna over the past 3 years. Cremation has taken place. Committal Service to be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Rd in Mt. Pearl on Thursday, June 20, 2103 at 2:00p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s. Death27 September 1948 Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; Death Certificate states: Emily Valentine Veale of 146 1/2 Oxford Street in Halifax died in the Halifax Infirmary on Sept. 27, 1948. She had lived in Halifax all her life and was born there on 13 February 1879 (should be 1873). She was female, Canadian, English and single, aged 69 years, 7 months and 14 days. She was a spinster. Her father was Michael Veale born Nfld. and her mother Emily Armstrong, born there also. She died of apoplexy secondary to hypertension. She was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Halifax on September 29th. The informant for the death certificate was "her sister, Anna May Veale" of the same address.2
