Obituary | October 2015 | St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada; "Rick passed peacefully away at his home on October 17, 2015, surrounded by those who loved him dearly. His indomitable spirit and courage continued to the end of his two-year battle with cancer. Rick leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, stories, and laughter. He is predeceased by his parents John (1996) and Rita (Halleran) St. Croix (2003), his brother Randolph (1975) and his beautiful niece Robyn Peddle (2009). With saddened hearts but deep gratitude and joy for having shared his life, Rick leaves behind his wife Louise (Daley) and his son Adrian, who was Rick’s greatest pride and joy. Also sharing in wonderful memories are Rick’s sisters Mildred Cahill (Brian), Jackie St. Croix, Helen Peddle (Randal) and brothers Chris, Paul and Sebastian (Madelyn), mother in-law Gertie Daley, brother in-law Paul Daley, sisters in-law Maureen (Randy Jerrett) and Karen (Roy Gibbons), and dearly loved nephews and nieces: Adam and Alana Cahill, Christine and Maria Peddle, Rita-Jane, John, Claire and Pierre St. Croix, Rory and Noel Gibbons. He also leaves behind two of his dearest friends and fishing companions Brian Cahill and Mary Lawlor as well as many colleagues and dear friends at Provincial Agriculture. Special thanks to the wonderful and caring nurses and doctors at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bill Eaton and staff of the Palliative Care Unit who made it possible for Rick to stay at home with his family in his final days. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road – visitation on Monday, October 19, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 20, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X, Elizabeth Avenue, St. John’s. Cremation to follow at a later time. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre."2 |

Predeceased by father George St. Croix, father-in-law Joseph Fleming and brother-in-law Adrian Fleming. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Janet (nee Fleming), daughters Leslie (Leanna) and Jillian, sons Richard and Colton (Ceara); grandchildren: Avery, Allie, Cohen and Casey, mother Pauline; sisters: Genevieve (Fred), Ruth (Chris), Anita (Toby) and Paula, mother-in-law Bridget Fleming; brothers-in-law: Brian, Dan, Joseph, Keith and Allen; sisters-in-law: Marilyn, Lucinda, Judy, Joan, Marie and Collette and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and was well known through his vocal and active involvement with the nape movement and nape pensioners. He was a longtime employee of Newfoundland Liquor Corporation. Predeceased by his parents William and Frances St. Croix; sister Regina and brother Austin. Ron was surrounded, as always, by his loving wife Maureen (Powell) and much loved children: Suzanne (Derm Layman), Regina St. Croix, Ronald, William (Jeanie), Patrick (Louise), Kathleen Pretty (Sonny), John (Tammy) and Michael (Nicolle); grandchildren: Lori-Ann and Bradley Layman, Christopher and Walter Oliver, Curtis, Mark and Zachery St. Croix, Kyle St. Croix, Patrick and Nicholas St. Croix, Justin Tizzard, Eddy St. Croix, Evan, Madison and Colton Pretty and Ethan St. Croix. Also leaving to mourn sisters: Frances Bishop (Don deceased), Margaret St. Croix, Gertrude McGrath (Bill); brothers: Hubert and William (Jeanette); mother-in-law Kathleen Powell; sisters-in-law Rita Powell (Andy Samuelson), Kathleen Irvin (Vernon), Josephine St. Croix (Austin deceased); sadly missed and mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives, in particular his friends of Bill W. who will remember him "one day at a time". Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Friday from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, April 15, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick`s Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. Predeceased by her first husband Edward Arsenault, 1960, second husband Herbert Thistle, 1995, sisters Nora Cameron, Esther Burke, Ada Holwell, brothers Stan St. Croix and Bill St. Croix. Left with cherished memories her children: Dr. William Arsenault (Jennifer), Labrador City, Patricia Johnson (Jim), San Antonio, TX, and Joseph Arsenault (Carol), St. John's; stepsons: Carson Thistle (Lorraine), St. John’s, and Calvin Thistle (Barbara), Sidney, NS, also sister-in-law Betty St. Croix, Niagara Falls, ON; grandchildren: David Arsenault (Jose), Susan Arsenault, Chris Robinson (Lee), Suzette Johnson, Randall Arsenault and William Arsenault (Charmaine); four great-grandchildren and several step- grandchildren, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also five special nieces: Bonnie Stone, Doreen Coady, Dianne O’Mara, Mary Rose Tucker, and Theresa Arsenault who were so faithful to her. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday, May 16th, 2013 from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. and Friday, May 17th, 2013 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place at Mary Queen of Peace, Torbay Road on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. He was a World War II Veteran serving with the 59th (Newfoundland) Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery #971230. He is predeceased by his wife Kay (1997); his brother William and sisters: Nora and Ada. He leaves to mourn and celebrate his life, his daughter Eileen and her husband Lloyd White (Gander); his sisters: Essie Burke (St. John's), Rose Thistle (St. John's); special niece Doreen Coady (St. John's), as well as other nieces, nephews, friends and Trudy Hancock and family of Germany. Stan was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Deer Lake and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Gander. Our sincere thanks to the management and staff of Chancellor Park for their outstanding loving care and concern for Stan in the last three years - you were all dear to him. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. and then at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on Friday, September 23 from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Parish, Gander on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Interfaith Cemetery, Gander.
