Obituary | 19 August 2017 | Worcester, Massachusetts, United States; Jeanne M. Hanam February 09, 1927 - August 18, 2017 Jeanne M. (Brunette) Hanam, 90, a 60 year resident of Shrewsbury, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. Jeanne was born in Worcester, one of 8 children to the late Joseph N. and Delia M. (Malboeuf) Brunette. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and later worked for New England Electric Company as an administrative assistant for over 20 years before she retired. Jeanne was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed knitting and would make many hats to send overseas to soldiers during the war including the most recent wars. She would also knit afghans for her family members. Jeanne liked scrapbooking and daily activities with her family especially when her grandchildren would come over to visit and play cards. Jeanne’s husband of 42 years, William J. Hanam passed away in 1992. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Christine Hanam; three grandchildren, Kyle, Samantha and Scott Hanam all of Shrewsbury; many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many cousins including Eileen Robichaud of Auburn. She is predeceased by her seven siblings, Leo and Paul O. Brunette, Irene Cure, Lorraine Letourneau, Blanche Vania, Norma Boulay and Doris Brunette whom passed on August 3, 2017. Jeanne’s funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 12:00 noon in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jeanne’s name to: Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury MA 01545 or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004. Obituary | September 2016 | Burin, Burin Peninsula, Newfoundland, Canada; Obituary ELIZABETH PIDGEON September 20th, 1934 ~ September 29th, 2016 “A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” – Washington Irving It is with a sense of sadness and loss that the family of ELIZABETH PIDGEON, announce her passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Thursday, September 29th, 2016, at the age of 82 years. Her spirit and the wonderful memories she created will be carried on by her sons, Joe (Brenda) and Dick; daughters, Julia (Ray) Mitchell, Charlotte Mitchell (Tony Mayo), Kate (Brendan) Pretty, Ella Jackson (Carl Strowbridge), Jackie (Steve Flannigan), Maureen (Albert) Linehan, Agnes, Barbara Fitzpatrick (Deena King), Marguerite (Randy) Smith, Velma (Randy) Parsons, and Linda (Darryl) Hodder; sisters, Kathleen (Howard Dober), Beatrice Barry and Alice (Ernest Farrell); sister-in-law, Mary Matthews; 26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, all of whom always brought a smile to her face. Also left with wonderful, precious memories are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially those friends she made at the Marystown Retirement Centre, including her special friend, William (Billy) Paul. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, John Joe; baby daughter, Josephine; mother, Alice (Mallay) Brushett; father, James J. Brushett; step-mother, Ann (Brake) Brushett; sisters, Julia (Brushett) Brake and Selina (Brushett) Farrell; brother, Jim Joe Brushett; parents-in-law, Mickey Joe and Julia Pidgeon, along with many other friends and family members who were so much a part of her life. “A Mom’s hug last long after she lets go.” The Mass of Christian Burial took place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown on Monday, October 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. Cremation followed. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In Elizabeth’s memory donations may be made to the Chemo Unit at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre or flowers gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Wiseman’s Funeral Homes – Marystown.2 |
