Obituary8 May 2011 Wilmington, Hanover County, North Carolina, United States; "Allan Wade Cameron, 80, long time resident of Wilmington, passed away May 4, 2011 at Duke University Hospital following a brief illness.

Wade was born to Elsie J. Wade Cameron and Murdock Edward Cameron on July 24, 1930, in Weston, Massachusetts.

Preceding Wade in death were his parents; an Aunt, Annie Margaret Cameron; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Surviving Wade are his loving wife of 39 years, Kathrine Meier Cameron; children, spouses and grandchildren: Sandra Andrews (Kenny) and son Clayton; Barbara Raybourne and son Cameron; Douglas Wade Cameron (Angela) and children: Crystal, Courtney, Anthony and Lexie. Papa Wade also generously shared his love with his step-children and grandchildren, Campbell A. Baird, Mebane Baird Sherard (Steve) and children Trey Sherard and Savannah Baird Sherard. Faithful dog Schultze and Feline friend Bitsy will miss Wade along with all of us.

Wade proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, Wade worked as a supervisor for General Electric until his retirement in 1990. Travels to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia to visit family and friends were highlights of his retirement. Hours spent shrimping, fishing, and gardening, were cherished pastimes. Wade's stalwart presence, marine haircut, and trademark handlebar mustache will endear him always to family and friends.
