Last Edited | Mar 25, 2021 |
Relationship | 3rd cousin 2 times removed of Patricia Ann Monogue |
Birth | 11 April 1955 | Newfoundland, Canada1 |
Death | 14 March 2013 | Stephenville, Bay St. George District, Newfoundland, Canada1 |
Obituary | 15 April 2013 | Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada; Following obituary was posted online from Russell Funeral Home of Stephenville: Exceptional Man – Extraordinary Father… It is with great sadness that the family of Cyril announce his passing on the evening of Thursday, March 14th at Western Health (Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital). Cyril would have been 58 next month and is survived by his loving wife Honora DuBourdieu (in Kippens), his son Adam DuBourdieu (in St. John’s), daughters Morgan and Caila Beaudoin, sons in law Desmond Boyd and James Shilliday, granddaughters Nolyn Boyd and Shanna Shilliday and soon to be grandson Vaden Boyd; all in Fort McMurray, AB. Also left to mourn are his father Cyril DuBourdieu of Port aux Port along with his four brothers, Bob DuBourdieu (in Halifax), Tony DuBourdieu (in Clarenville), Brian DuBourdieu (in Toronto) and Ken DuBourdieu (in Port aux Port). Cyril began his battle with Cancer in 2010 and although he had seemingly beaten it once, he was not as fortunate when it returned a second time in early 2012. Within that time, Cyril never stopped living and had a certain “joie de vie” living each of his days to the fullest and even making trips across the country to visit his family in Fort McMurray, AB. Aside from a lifelong career in nursing, he truly had passions for cooking, travelling and music. He will be so greatly missed by all who were privileged enough to get to know him and spend any time with him. We are sincerely grateful for the care and love he received from the staff, colleagues and family at the hospital in the five weeks he was there before he was taken from us. Our genuine thanks go out to family, friends and colleagues for their many thoughts and prayers. Anyone wishing to make donations in Cyril’s honor are encouraged to do so to either the Canadian Hemophilia Society, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson Society Canada. There will be a “Family Only Viewing” on Saturday, March 16th from 2-4pm at Russell’s Funeral Home. There will be another viewing on Saturday from 7-9pm with a final viewing on Sunday, March 17th from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18th @ 2:00pm at the Maria Regina Church in Port aux Port East.2 |

A very pretty wedding was solemnized in the church of Our Lady of Mercy, Port au Port, on the 10th inst. in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives of the bride and groom, when Blanche, daughter of Mrs. Minnie and the late Isaac Hynes, was united in marriage to Mr. John DuBourdieu, of H.M. Customs, Port au Port. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Fr. Joy. As the bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. George MacDonald, entered the church the Wedding March was played by Mrs. John Joy, sister of the groom and organist of the Nuptial Mass. The bride, who was attended by her sister, Miss Muriel Hynes, as bridesmaid looked Charming gowned in a dress of orchid cut chiffon velvet. She wore a coat of sailor blue pinpoint trimmed with silver-fitch Thibetine and a blonde hat with shoes and hose to match. The groom was supported by Mr. Gus McDonald. Leaving the church the bridal party motored to the residence of the bride's mother where a sumptuous breakfast had been prepared, and was served to the immediate relatives and friends of the married couple. The many messages of congratulations they received during the day from friends all over the country, but particularly from those on the West Coast, together with the very large number of choice, valuable and useful presents from the same source spoke eloquently of their popularity and the esteem with which they are regarded. A reception was held in the evening and notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather and the difficulties of travel, was attended by a large number of guests, some of them coming from a distance of twenty miles to honour the occasion. The music furnished by the orchestra was very select and helped in no small measure towards the evening's enjoyment. Dancing was kept up until well into the early morning hours of Armistice Day, which was duly honoured by patriotic speeches which was very appropriate as the groom and several of the guests were ex-service men and are members of the St. George's branch of the G.W.V.A. The festivities terminated with the singing of the National Anthem followed by a chorus of good wishes for the future health and happiness of the bride and groom."; Principal=Agnes Blanche Hynes2,3 |
