(Hanam) Gregoire, 88, passed away January 10, 2016 at home following a brief illness. Her husband of 48 years, William J. Gregoire passed away in 1993. Eleanor is survived by her sons Russell Gregoire and his soulmate Beth Sykier and Ronald Gregoire and Beth Agnello, her grandson Garth Gregoire and his wife Kerrie and great-granddaughter Ginger Gregoire, her brothers Francis Hanam and Edward Hanam of Grafton and Russell Hanam of Corona, AZ. Eleanor was the last surviving among seven sisters as she was predeceased by her sisters Caroline Bolton, Betty Dunphe, Marion White, Jean Mossey, Shirley Latino and Edna Putnam and brothers William, Raymond and Gerald Hanam. Eleanor was born February 23, 1927 in Worcester, daughter of the late Martha (Penney) and William Hanam. While her early years and roots were in Worcester she lived in Grafton for more than 50 years. Eleanor worked at General Electric in Ashland and also as a home health aide supervisor for the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA). She was happiest when surrounded by her family or in her favorite chair with a Maeve Binchy novel. Always a woman of faith, she taught catechism at St. Phillip's and St. James Church in Grafton. (Hanam) Latino, 79 of Worcester passed away Monday, August 31st 2009 in UMass Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born, August 10, 1930, in Worcester, the middle child of thirteen children of William and Martha (Penny) Hanam. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clark University in 1976. She then worked as a systems manager for over twenty years for the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company before retiring. Shirley and her husband Salvatore previously owned and operated Latino’s Restaurant on Pleasant St. in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Shirley also enjoyed volunteering her time as a classroom reader in the Worcester Public Schools. Shirley’s husband Salvatore “Ted” Latino passed away in 1990. She is survived by her loving daughter and son in law, Deborah and David Lamothe of Westboro; her adored and cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Ammon and her husband William of Hoboken, NJ, Rachel Catherine and Jesse Kurtz of Franklinton, NC, and Jessica Lamothe of Brighton. Shirley also leaves behind family members who were also an important part of her life: her sisters, Edna “Sissy” Putnam, and Eleanor Gregorie both of Grafton; her brothers, Francis and Edward Hanam of Grafton and Russell Hanam in Arizona; her sisters and brothers in law, Sarah Lavin, Louis and Julia Latino, Silvio, John and Joan Latino, many nieces, nephews, godchildren and her many dear friends. Shirley’s brothers, William, Raymond and Gerald Hanam, and sisters, Caroline Bolton, Betty Dunphe, Marion White and Jean Mossey all pre deceased her. Shirley was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. She was a frequent volunteer at the Foothills Community Theatre and especially enjoyed spending time and sharing good food with her family and friends. Shirley enjoyed wonderful times on Cape Cod, baking her famous pizzettes Italian Cookies, playing cards with her Wednesday card group, cheering for the Red Sox ,and watching her granddaughters figure skate, and play basketball, and ice hockey. Shirley was extremely happy and proud to recently attend the marriage of her granddaughter Elizabeth. The funeral will be held Thursday, September 3rd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, September 2nd from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham 01701.2 |
