He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Isabel; five children: Grace Hutchings (Clayton), Deer Lake, Edward Lawrence (Berneice), Pasadena, Joan Lawrence, Corner Brook, Phyllis Noel (Dougald), Stephenville, Cecil Lawrence, Corner Brook; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one brother Malcolm Lawrence (Edith), Corner Brook; sisters: Verna Miller, Corner Brook, Annie Smith, Irishtown, Ruth Redilfo (Albert), Toronto, and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 30th, at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Reverend Percy Coffin officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church or the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Berneice, daughter Tina, son Eddie and daughter-in-law Carolyn, grandchildren Liam, Harry and Cerys. His sisters Grace, Joan, Phyllis (Dougald) and brother Cecil. His brother-in-laws James (Nina), Lamont (Blanche), Marcy (Lucy), Brad (Angela) and mother-in-law Almeda, as well as a circle of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends including his good friend and neighbour Cyril Payne. Ed was predeceased by his parents Arch and Isabel Lawrence and father-in-law Samuel Thornhill. Ed was born in Corner Brook to Isabel and Archibald Lawrence on September 14, 1936. He worked at Bowaters for 40 years. His passion was sports especially hockey where he was a proud former defenseman of the Corner Brook Royals. He was inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010. A donation to a charity of one’s choice is graciously accepted. A visitation will be held at Fillatre Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Ave, on Wednesday, March 4th, from 2-4pm & 7-9pm The funeral service will be held at Fillatre Funeral Home Chapel, 4 St. Mark’s Ave, March 5th at 2:00pm with Rev.
