Mathew Minogue b. c Apr 1828, d. 14 Nov 1900
Marriage15 March 1860 Littlehampton, South East England, England; The marriage certificate states:
Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of Littlehampton in the County of Sussex.
No. 339.
Married March 15, 1860.
Matthew Minogue - age 29, bachelor, residing at Chichester, father is John Minogue and John is a farmer.
Ann Carter - age 23, spinster, residing at Littlehampton, father is William Carter who is a Mariner.
Married in the Parish Church by Banns by W. G. Holmes (surname unclear), Vicar
Witnesses were Henry Hudson & Wilhelmina Town.
Certified in the Registration District of Worthing.

The database, "England Marriages, 1538-1973" on the Family Search website state that the name of the church was St. Mary, however, in the same database another transcription states that the church was St. John's.

Note: I believe that William Carter was Ann's brother and not her father. Mathew and Ann named their first son, William John. (William possibly for her brother and John for Mathew's father.); Principal=Mathew Minogue11,12
Children
Ann Carter Minogue c1872 and c1890
Birth11 March 1837 Littlehampton, Sussex County, South East England, England; The date on the death registration is 11 March 1841. However, the age of 23 listed on the marriage certificate in 1860 would be contradictory, since this date would make her 19. The 1861 census states that Ann was born in Littlehampton. The IGI index with the baptismal record as the original source states birthdate was 11 March 1837. Also, the church baptismal record gives this date also.4,5,6,7,8
Baptism26 March 1837 St. Mary Anglican Church, Littlehampton, Sussex County, South East England, England; Mother is listed as Sarah Carter, no father is given.8
Residence26 March 1837 West Lodge, Littlehampton, Sussex County, South East England, England9
(Witness) Census1841 15 Henley Buildings, Littlehampton, Sussex County, South East England, England; It is not clear on the Census form as to whether Sarah Carter is living with a "Arthur Stevens" who is listed above her but it appears that she possibly is, so I am listing him here.
Living at #15 Henley Buildings is another family of four, then:
Arthur Stevens, 50, laborer, born in Sussex.
Sarah Carter, 39, laundress.
William Carter, 13.
Thos. Carter, 11.
John Carter, 7.

(Witness) Census7 April 1861 Chatham, Kent County, South East England, England; "M. Manogue", head of family, married, age 27, corporal in the army, born in Ireland. Living with him:
A. Manogue, wife, married, age 24, born Littlehampton, Sussex, England; Principal=Mathew Minogue13
Address23 October 1861 King Street, Chatham, Kent County, South East England, England; It appears from the birth registration for their daugher, Mary Ann, that they might have lived at the corner of King and Brook Streets.; Principal=Mathew Minogue14
Religion Mathew and Ann and their children are Roman Catholic.; Principal=Mathew Minogue15

(Witness) Death23 September 1867 St. John's, Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland, Canada; The date listed is not clear as to whether that is the date of death or burial.
Roman Catholic Burials for the Garrison of St. John's:
"Ellen, Daughter of Matthew Monogue (sic)"; Principal=Ellen Minogue17,18
(Witness) Emigration1869 In the 1920 Census, this is the date that she states she emigrated.; Principal=Mary Ann Minogue19
(Witness) Deathbefore 1871 It appears that she died in childhood as she is not listed on the 1871 or 1881 Censuses with her parents. It is likely that she died in Newfoundland as I have searched the Quebec records through 1871 for a burial.; Principal=Emily Minogue17
(Resident) Census25 April 1871 St. Lewis Ward, Quebec City, Quebec County, Quebec, Canada; Listed as: (translated from French)
Family #265; Minogue, Mathew, male, 36, born Ireland, Catholic, Irish, soldier, married.
Ann Minogue, female, 34, born England, Catholic, English, married.
Mariann Minogue, female, 8, born England, Catholic, Irish, attending school.
Thomas Minogue, male, age 1 month, born March in Quebec, Catholic, Irish.; Principal=Mathew Minogue17
Address1872 26 Guise Street, Hamilton, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada; The Hamilton city directory lists Mathew as living at 26 Guise Street working as a labourer. Guise Street overlooks the Hamilton Harbour. Its' attraction was the nearby Grand Trunk (later Canadian National) railway, which would be the arrival point for a migrant, or a railway worker unfamiliar with the city. The directory, although listed for 1872-73 is only corrected to July of 1872, so information is most likely for 1871-2.; Principal=Mathew Minogue20
Note1873 Portrait of Ann and Mathew with daughter, Annie.; Principal=Mathew Minogue
Residencebetween 1875 and 1877 Murray Street, London, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada; Living in a house on the northside of Murray Street (in London East) between Elizabeth and English Streets. On one side was a vacant lot and ot the other side Mr. Walter Richards was living. (There is currently no street named Murray Street, this was the former name in East London that is now named Queen's Ave.). In the 1877-88 directory, he is listed as Labourer, GWR, res n s Queen's Ave, east of Elizabeth, London East.; Principal=Mathew Minogue21,22,23
(Witness) Death5 December 1876 London, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada; Newspaper article stated that Mathew was 5 months old and that the funeral would be from his father's home. Place of burial was not stated, although St. Peter's is the only Catholic Cemetery in London.; Principal=Mathew Minogue24

Death5 April 1924 Aged Home for Incurables, Hamilton, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada; The information given for the death registration was provided by her son, Thomas Monogue, who was living at 12 Hamilton Ave. in Hamilton, Ontario at the time. Some of the information provided was not correct. He states that Ann's father's name was John Easter - this may be a possible clue to the identity of her unknown father. There is some confusion as to birthdate. The death registration lists it as March 11, 1841 and that she is 83 years old. However, we now have fairly definitive information that this should be March 11, 1837 and that she should have been 87 years old. It states she was born in England which is correct but states she is of Irish descent which is also questionable. Cause of death is listed as Myocarditis, general and Arteriosclerosis with Bronchitis. The doctor was J. Roberts of 20-22 Main Street W. and that he saw her from March 24th - April 3rd of 1924. It also states that she is a widow and living in the Aged Home for the Incurables which later became St. Peter's Hospital.34
